Merrick and Patrick met in Chicago in early 2017. They got married in 2018 and are currently based out of Nashville. Eschewing any specific genre or musical style, The Concrete Shamans are best described as an audio/visual duo creating content that serves a higher purpose. From meditation music to synthpop, rock, EDM and more.
Debuting their first EP Aliens With Candy in 2020, they took some time to hone their craft and released an album of rhythmic trance music in 2022 called Meditation Shamanic Trance. This album was designed to be used in spiritual practice.
Traditional Shamanic Drumming is very effective at helping experiencers let go of the mind’s grasp of tangible reality. Under the right conditions, one could disconnect from the consensus reality just enough to allow healing energies to flow into their lives. MST1 was designed to be a shamanic drumming album fashioned as a pop music record.
As both of The Concrete Shamans were fans of psychedelic trance, a “long fermenting” and relentless dance beat came out of the ether with the following release.
Up next would be the Maxi-single “4:44AM” which including 7 different mixes of the psytrance track.
Another album of synthphonic meditation trance would appear shortly thereafter in ALIEN TEMPLE where each track was over 15-minutes and was created for the purpose of shamanic journeying.
At the close of 2022, The Concrete Shamans released two singles back to back “Ripple Effect” and “Centauri Sauce” for the unabashed newwave / synthwave / retrowave album Cruisin’ Thru The Multiverse which is out early 2023.
